Honey - Mother Nature's Nectar ~ The Oldest Fermented Beverage

Dating back to before 5000 BC, Honey and water were fermented into Mead – now commonly called “Honey Wine”, although some sources indicate Mead is the Oldest Fermented Beverage.

A uniquely different taste than grape wine, it can be dry, semi-sweet or sweet and is found to be refreshing and with the light aroma of honey. For over 25 years, since 1993, the family owned Earle Estates Meadery has offered Mead in many varieties and blends. Its unique nature makes it the perfect blending wine to expand its flavor and taste throughout our production of over 20 Honey wine varieties.

"Old Norse legend tells us of the Mead of Poetry - a drink that will make any taster a scholar that can solve any problem."

Although we can’t prove this or promise you will become a scholar, we can offer you the opportunity to experience an old tradition and taste a pure Contemporary or Traditional Mead wine. Then expand your palate to the many blends of Mead with our fruit wines that will enhance any Mead Experience.

Recognized consistently at national and international wine competitions, Earle Estates Meads have received Gold, Silver and Bronze medals as well as several Fruit and Mead championships and best of class awards.

During your Finger Lakes wine tour stop by to enjoy the beauty of our lovely tasting room, the fantastic view of Seneca Lake and the surrounding farmlands from our balcony as you sample our Meads.

Our campus offers a sun filled tasting room offering many honey related gifts and treats as well as a relaxing lawn to enjoy your new found “favorite” Mead! During season, you can also view the Honeybee observation hive, taste fresh honey and learn about the culture of bees and Mead making.
